IN THE NAME OF THE GODHEAD

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matt. 28:19.

When we were born again, we were baptized in the name of all three members of the Godhead. We believe there are three Persons in the Trinity: the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. All three are one in an unbreakable unity. We cannot know how They feel toward us as sinners except what They choose to make known. In the revealed Word of God They have done that in a very special way to those of us who live on this planet. Each of Them has declared what He is to us personally. In this way They have opened to us the very doors of heaven with an everlasting invitation to return home to live with Them forever.

What would it profit us to think and speak of Them as if They were to be feared and dreaded? As exiles from the Garden of Eden and from the presence of God, what if all we knew was the divine sentence of death for our sins?

What would it avail if every day you had this to look forward to, if as a sinner, on waking each day with your sins before you, you did not know yourself to be forgiven? The Bible makes clear that every sin we have committed is registered in the books of heaven. How utterly overwhelming in despair to hear the words, "The hour of God's judgment has come for you. God will not clear the guilty." Yet this would be the situation if the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit had not visited us with the good news of pardon, forgiveness, and acceptance through the shed blood of the Son of God.

While telling of God's judgment on sin, the Bible also presents a divine plan worked out by our heavenly Father, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit for our redemption and reconciliation. All members of the Godhead refuse to give us up to eternal damnation. Instead of looking on ourselves as outcasts from the Garden of Eden, we are now restored to oneness with God.

To estimate the value of the God you believe in, consider His influence upon yourself. We are His children, not His slaves. We are acquitted, not condemned. We are accepted, not rejected. We are children in our Father's house.
