Triumph in Christ | DECEMBER 28 |
SOWING AND REAPING Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Gal. 6:7. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil and defeated him. We are indeed redeemed. Satan no longer has the right to be our master. Is it too late for you? It is never too late. Every coming of Christ to you, every conviction from the Holy Spirit, is the crucial moment for decision. In Christ we have a guarantee of the expulsion of sin, the enthronement of love and righteousness. It is all there. God has given us everything. As we hunger and thirst after righteousness here, in the earth made new Christ will satisfy us with just that. If we love the truth of God, in the new earth God will provide for us to live by it for all eternity. People may live now like the apostle Paul or like the emperor Nero; they will be judged accordingly. There will be a different judgment and destiny for the apostle John, who was Jesus' friend, than for Judas Iscariot, who was His betrayer. This very separation is in harmony with the choices these men have made. All men will reap what they have sown. Christ's compassion does not propose a different standard of conduct for believers and unbelievers. The lifting up of Christ does not reduce the moral order to an anarchy of so-called love, where, regardless of how men live, God will pass it by. By the revelation of the character of God in Christ, God will have the right to destroy sin and rebellious sinners and save those who have chosen redemption by Him. We ought to acclimatize our minds and lives to the need for making the right decisions and for our own personal responsibility in light of what Christ has done. Every hour bears witness to what we are. Who will rescue us at last from the wages of sin and eternal death? We are sure that Christ will. Who at last will establish righteousness in the earth for all the universe to see and understand? Who but Jesus Christ? Who but the one who carried the cross, who prayed for His enemies, and who will create a new earth wherein dwells righteousness? Who but Christ will stand up for us and proclaim us eternally secure? |
