Part Four:
Perceived Impediments
To Women in Ministry
After careful consideration, the committee agreed that the
most serious obstacles to the acceptance of the ordination of women were
four: the concept of the headship of all males over all females, Paul's
demand that women be silent in church (1 Cor 14:34, 35), his instruction
that women should not teach or "exercise authority" (1 Tim
2:12), and a quotation from Ellen White which appears to indicate that any
who pursue women's rights are at odds with the third angel's
message. Chapters 13 through 17 carefully examines these perceived
impediments.
