SDAnet Constitution

I. NAME

The name of the organization shall be SDAnet

II. MISSION

SDAnet is a media organization operated in the public interest by members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. While the owners and operators of SDAnet are members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, they are not acting in any way as official spokespersons for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Except for those contributions which are clearly labeled as official Seventh-day Adventist Church material, the opinions expressed by contributors to the various SDAnet activities are those of the individual authors alone and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, nor do they necessarily reflect the opinions of the owners and operators of SDAnet.

SDAnet exists for the following reasons:

To provide information and dialogue about Seventh-day Adventist belief and practice to Seventh-day Adventist church members and the general public.

To provide assistance with electronic dissemination of news and information to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its members.

To operate, and provide space for others to operate, discussion forums which allow for an open exchange of opinions regarding issues of interest to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its members, with the goal of promoting better understanding and unity through dialogue.

III. GOVERNANCE

SDAnet is owned by the SDAnetboard and is governed and administered by SDAnetboardmembers and Associates, as described in the SDAnet By-laws.

IV. ACTIVITIES

SDAnet operates the following activities, each of which is regulated by a working policy.

A. SDAnet-sponsored mailing lists. These are regulated by the SDAnet Charter.

B. Mailing lists for other groups. These are regulated by the Policy on Third-party Lists.

C. Electronic publishing on the World Wide Web server. This is governed by the Web Server Policy.

D. Chat Server. This is governed by the Chat Server Policy.
